Annual Rummage Sale 2007

LaCASA's Huge Annual Tented Rummage Sale raised almost $15,000!

It was a huge success, with all the proceeds of the Sale going to support LaCASA's services.  In addition to sending hundreds of people home with gently used items, the event provided them with a new awareness of the vital, unduplicated services that LaCASA/ Zacharias Center provides to Lake County residents.

"There's an incredible energy around LaCASA that makes this more than just an event where people can find bargains.  Many people who stopped by to find a bargain, also found an organization that they want to be a part of," said Co-Event Chair Laura Hampton, who explained that many people stopped by LaCASA's volunteer information table to find out how they can volunteer.  "Just like so many aspects of LaCASA's service to the community, we couldn't have had a successful rummage sale without the support of many dedicated volunteers."

"Our Second Hand Roses Committee that organizes and runs this event is just unbelievable," said LaCASA's Executive Director Torrie Flink.  "In addition, we receive an amazing amount of support from local businesses, who donated everything from the tent over our heads [Stellar Productions, Lake Bluff ], to picking up donated items [TWO MEN AND A TRUCK] to hauling away items that didn't sell [1-800-GOT-JUNK]."

LaCASA Co-Chair Joanne Simmons wishes to thank Salutos, In-laws, Kaiser's Pizza, Pizza Hut, and Gurnee Pizza for donating the food and beverages needed to keep its staff and volunteers going for three straight days.

"There's no way we could have had such a well organized and successful fundraiser without everyone's help, from those who helped collect, sort and organize items to everyone who helped spread the word and brought in their friends to shop," said Mary Jarvis Meyer, a longtime supporter of LaCASA, who drove from her new home in Toronto, Canada to help set-up and work the rummage sale.

"On behalf of LaCASA's Board of Directors, I'd like to say thank you to everyone for their tireless work and the huge amount of money and time donated to help us succeed!" exclaimed Brad Jenks, Fund Development Chair for LaCASA.  "Just think how many people will receive services from LaCASA because of their commitment."
