Real Kids C.A.R.E. Second Annual Bowling and Costume Party
“Be Creative”

This fabulous event was held Friday evening, October 26, 2007, at Bertrand Bowling in Waukegan. A $20 per person entry fee included bowling, pizza, soda, music, costuming judging, and karaoke. The theme was “Be Creative” and the guests were! The committee began the event by decorating the area designated for the party. Youth and families started to arrive at 5pm ready to have fun, and fun they had 86 games of bowling, 15 extra large pizzas and 15 pitchers of soda. The fun did not stop there, music and laughter filled the room and amazing costumes were judged. Batman and Robin made an appearance, along with numerous fairies, a scare crow, Shaggy, Elvira, and Masquerade folks, a Nerd and various creative characters. Great prizes were given out including a Gap gift card, a Zune, a CD player, Blockbuster gift cards and Marcus Theatre gift cards. The event hailed 78 participants for 3 hours.

Through outreach the committee increased awareness of Zacharias’s programs, services and the issues of sexual violence, at their schools, with friends and family and in doing solicitation with vendors and the community. The committee did a phenomenal job and the “Event” was a huge success, raising $1,415.00!
